Turning the lens on photographers of the Troubles
Thomas Kelly, (MA in Public Relations, 2017), drew on a decade of experience working on newspaper picture desks to produce an extraordinary documentary that turned the lens on Northern Irish photographers whose images recorded the darkest days of the Troubles.
Shooting the Darkness looks at the men who photographed the Troubles between 1968 and 1998 unwittingly becoming war photographers in their own home towns as violence erupted all around them.
Funded by RTE, ARTE and the BAI, the documentary was screened to critical acclaim.
A book based on the documentary is due for release in late 2019, published by Blackstaff Press.
