Dissertation Topic and Overview:
An investigation into the use of Public Relations in building and retaining brand identity and its importance to amateur rugby clubs
The researcher decided to research how amateur rugby clubs who play in the All Ireland league’s top division utilise communications functions in building and retaining brand identity. How the use of these functions may impact on whether recruitment drives are successful, or attendance at weekly games is high or low. This topic is especially important, as in the wake of rugby union turning professional in the mid 1990’s clubs had to contend with the new era and figure out how to contend with that.
