Dissertation Topic and Overview:
"The politics of assisted dying: What factors influence politicians in the drafting of euthanasia legislation in Ireland"
The fundamental aim of this research is to investigate how politicians in Ireland, when faced with the moral dilemma of legislating for assisted dying, make decisions on how to draft such legislation. Such an investigation has the potential to provide an insight into the inner workings of the Irish legislative process.
Born and bred in Kiltimagh, Co Mayo, Noel completed a BA in Media & Communication Studies and Mathematics in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick in 2010, which included a semester studying in Frostburg State University in Maryland, USA.
Since 2012, Noel has worked primarily as a broadcast journalist with a number of outlets around the country, including Classic Hits 4fm, Radio Nova, Spin South West, Midwest Radio and AA Roadwatch, broadcasting on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2fm.
From 2015 to 2018, Noel’s focus turned to the digital sphere, working as a journalist and editor with an international news outlet based in Dublin.
Always fascinated by the world of politics, and having reported on it over the past number of years, particular areas of interest include the Education sector, Brexit, Health and Finance.
